Václav Janík fastest driver at BABA SLOVAKIA 2026

Beautiful sunny and absolutely dry weather accompanied this year’s hillclimb at Pezinská Baba. They ultimately brought victory to Czech driver Václav Janík in the Norma M20 FC.

The event, where drivers fought for points in the FIA Central European Zone series, both modern and historic vehicles, as well as in the Slovak, Czech and Austrian championships, was already the fastest in the first competitive run by Moravian Václav Janík in the Norma M20 FC. This driver managed to finish the first race in 1:47.712 minutes, which gave him the lead in the BABA SLOVAKIA 2026 event. After finishing the second race two and a half seconds slower, he was still the fastest of the 134-strong starting field, and took a clear victory.

The second place, also taken by a driver from across the Morava River, David Komárek, driving a McLaren F1 evo 2019, was six seconds behind when looking at the total times.

Slovak Martin Juhás, driving a Lola B03/51, delighted all domestic fans of hillclimbing by placing in the TOP 3 of the fastest drivers on this 4,666-meter-long hill. Martin also received an award for first place in the absolute standings within the Slovak international championships.

In sheet metal vehicles, the fastest Slovak driver on Sunday was Michal Žiak on a Škoda Fabia, who was seventh in the overall standings, and he also received an award for winning the absolute standings of category I within the FIA CEZ series.

The three fastest drivers within the Dynamax MMSR PAV series were completed on the winners’ podium by Jaroslav Dubóczi driving a Seat Leon Cup Racer.

In conclusion, it remains only to state that the BABA SLOVAKIA 2026 event was truly excellent. The excellent organization, the number of drivers from several European countries, but also the number of spectators clearly proved that the race between the Pezinská quarry and the Pezinská Baba mountain saddle certainly belongs to the highest series in Europe. The FIA must decide whether BABA SLOVAKIA will move to the European elite. In the meantime, we will enjoy a few more home races this season, with the next ones in Uhrovec in a week.
