The cold snap associated with storms that affected more or less all of Central Europe over the past weekend also had a major impact on the BABA SLOVAKIA 2025 event.
The storms gradually arrived at the end of the week, but from Saturday morning, when the BABA SLOVAKIA 2025 hillclimb car race on Pezinská Baba started, it looked as if the devils were literally getting married. Streams of water were constantly falling from the sky and streams of water were literally flowing along the road over the mountain pass. Despite this, the organizer managed everything and almost one hundred and seventy drivers from six European countries were able to complete the initial training run. However, it had to be interrupted for almost an hour and a half at the end when lightning began to cross the sky and the rain became even heavier.
During the afternoon, the storm clouds began to recede and after the rain gradually stopped and the track dried up, the drivers really started racing. As a result, after two competitive runs in the absolute order, as well as within the Dynamax International Slovak Hill Climb Championship 2025 series, the Czech driver Marek Rybníček won the race on Saturday, driving a Škoda Fabia R5. Second place went to another Czech driver, Jozef Hlavinka, driving a Ligier JS 49 Honda, and third to another Czech, Petr Vítek, driving an Osella PA 30. The fastest Slovak driver on the 4,166-meter-long track was Matej Homola, driving a Hyundai i30 N TCR, who finished fourth in the absolute order in the MMSR.
On Sunday, even though the weather forecast was not entirely rosy, it seemed in the morning that the rain would bypass the BABA SLOVAKIA 2025 event. However, appearances can be deceiving, and despite the fact that in this case the training run took place on dry land, in the afternoon the devils started to fight over Baba again. Also thanks to the amount of water on the track, the organizer had to deal with several accidents, which are simply part of motorsports. Fortunately, only the racing specials suffered abrasions or fractures, and the drivers escaped these unpleasant situations without a single scratch. After the starting field completed the first competitive run in heavy rain, the sky went crazy again and literally streams of water began to pour from it, the race was ended for safety reasons, and the results were announced after the decision of the Board of Sports Stewards from only one competitive run. The fastest driver in these truly extremely difficult conditions was again Marek Rybníček on the Škoda Fabia R5, both in the overall standings and in the FIA Central European Zone series, as well as in the Dynamax MMSR and Czech championships. Second place went to the Austrian Michael Tautscher on the Mitsubishi and third to the Slovak Matej Homol on the Hyundai i30 N TCR.
In conclusion, it must be clearly stated that despite the very difficult weather conditions that the organizer had to fight with during the weekend, the event was excellently prepared. Handling the onslaught of almost one hundred and seventy drivers and their vehicles went without any problems, and all the races went without any problems. Unfortunately, no organizer can do anything about the weather, except try to adapt to it somehow. And all of this was certainly successful at the BABA SLOVAKIA 2025 event.
